Yoga Nidra with Bonnie!

Thursday, November 16th – 12-1pm

YOGA NIDRA
Yoga Nidra,  or “yogic sleep” is an ancient teaching of meditation that is rapidly gaining
popularity in the West. In our over-stimulated world full of stress, anxiety and tension, we
live in a chronically exhausted state, often finding it difficult to decompress and relax. Yoga
Nidra is a systematic method of relaxation, holistically addressing the body’s physiological
and neurological needs as it uniquely unwinds the nervous system. As the nervous system
begins to relax, many students report an enhanced sense of comfort and joy in their life, as
well as improved sleep.
Yoga Nidra brings calmness, quietness and clarity to the mind. As we clear away obstacles
that prevent us from feeling physically and psychologically relaxed, safe and receptive, we
are able to recognize misperceptions so that we may engage in authentic action rather than
old reactive patterns. Nidra helps the mind regain its ability to be one-pointed and
undistracted, helping all aspects of our life.
As we approach the busy holiday season, it is especially important to take time to unwind,
decompress and relax. We will begin with 20 minutes of gentle movement and pranayama,
followed by 40 minutes of guided Yoga Nidra. During Nidra you simply follow along with my
voice as you tune into your deepest self. Yoga Nidra is typically practiced lying down.
Please bring any additional props you might need to ensure a restful, comfortable position.
