Nutrition Coaching with Dana

bigstock-green-and-red-healthy-food-14588906Have you ever heard the saying “You are what you eat?” No words could be truer!

The quality of the food we ingest directly relates to how our bodies function. We now live in an age where processed chemically based foods are the standard diet. Our bodies have no idea what to do with these chemicals and they are not easily processed.

Our bodies are looking for two things out of the food and beverages we consume:

Fuel: we need quality carbohydrates, fats and proteins to create the glucose that make our cells run efficiently with a long life span.

Information: we need quality minerals, vitamins and antioxidants so our cells can create new bones, tissue and brain matter.

To obtain these two vital functions we must have a diet mainly consisting of high quality fruits, vegetables and grains.

It is now proven that diet can impact and many times reverse:

High Blood Pressure
High cholesterol
Arthritis
Diabetes
Alzheimer’s
Parkinson’s

Consider a nutritional journey to healing!

About Dana Farrell

Just out of high school, I felt a calling to go into the healthcare industry and have been a practicing Registered Nurse for the last 30 years. My career has given me the opportunity to experience many facets of healthcare; the hospital setting working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Home Health, and most recently Nutritional Health Coaching and Community Education for a nonprofit. My Nursing time now revolves around the rehabilitation and education of people who, for whatever reason, have had an experience with illness. It’s through this path I found my love of Holistic Medicine.

Fifteen years ago, I read a book that changed my life. I learned about the food and meat industry in our country and began a lifelong search for ways to impact my life and others. Through eating healthy, Non-processed, wholesome foods we can truly impact our health and illnesses. I changed my own lifestyle and way of eating which has had very noticeable effects on my health and well-being and that of my family. This led me to complete a yearlong certification at the Integrative Institute of Nutrition in New York City where I became a certified Health Coach and Holistic Nutritionist. I feel honored to be a part of the evolution of Holistic Health. We truly are what we eat and there much to be said about how Mother Earth can heal us. Education and awareness are key factors to changing our minds and bodies.

During my journey, I had the opportunity to attend a teacher training in Kundalini yoga. I set out on this mission for self education to help me learn to practice yoga, breath work and meditation. This has been an amazing gift I gave myself. During this journey, I met Sandra and became acquainted thereafter with her wonderful studio. I am a resident of Willow Park and have been for 26 years. The universe has brought me close to home and it feels very right at this time.

The healing journey takes work involving the mind, body and soul.  I am honored to have a vast amount of knowledge in the world of nutrition. I also feel honored to have a village of people who are knowledgeable and gifted-it truly does take a village.

I hope to continue to learn and practice all manner of Holistic Medicine. I truly think this is where our future lies in curing illness.
