Indra’s Grace Mentorship Program:  An opportunity for yoga teachers to develop their skills and deepen their knowledge of yoga through personal study under the guidance of an experienced mentor.  Whether you are a first-time teacher or ten years strong, the heart of the yoga teacher is that of a lifelong learner.  This unique program allows you to have “in-action training” and apprenticeship with Sandra Vanatko.

About
Indra’s Grace mentorship program provides a unique experience in continuing education and additional training and guidance by our school’s senior teacher. Sometimes teachers want to be mentored in a specific style in yoga; in breath work, meditation, yoga philosophy, or anatomy; in sequencing and transitions;  sometimes they want to have a senior faculty member watch them teach and review them;  sometimes they want a teacher to provide insight and guidance in specific areas about which they feel uncertain. Over the course of three months, you will be guided through an in-depth study catered specifically for your desires.  You will be paired with Sandra Vanatko who will challenge and support you to find your own voice as a teacher. The program has flexible hours and is made up of the following components:

Private mentorship sessions
You will meet with your mentor once per week for a discussion session. These sessions will be structured to outline your goals and objectives and discuss your progress. You will also be given reading and writing assignments relevant to your interests. (Total 12 Hours)

Asana practice
You are required to practice two Asana classes per week, either both with your mentor or one with your mentor and a second with a teacher that your mentor will recommend. A membership to Indra’s Grace for the duration of your training is included in the cost of the program. (Minimum 36 Hours)

Observation/ Assist
Initially, you will observe your mentor’s class and have a brief discussion afterwards to answer any questions that may have arisen regarding sequencing, postures, pranayama, meditation, etc.  If your mentor deems it appropriate, you may begin to offer assistance within the class and, guided by your mentor, lead one or two poses in class. (Total 9 hours)

Practice Teaching
Towards the end of the program, you will have an opportunity to teach two full-length ”Featured Teacher” classes for IGY. Your mentor will observe and provide feedback. – (140 minutes).

Personal Study
Your mentor will assign you reading and writing projects to complete, custom-tailored based on your personal intentions and what your mentor deems most appropriate for you. (Minimum Hours – 20)

I did a 200 hour online yoga teachers training course in the spring of 2015. I was still very apprehensive about actually teaching yoga as I had very little experience in studio classes and felt I had not done enough practice training in my online program. I started yoga classes at Indra’s Grace in August of 2015. I loved her teaching style and her personal philosophy in yoga. While looking at the website I found that Sandra offered a mentorship program that sounded like exactly what I needed to round out my 200 hour training and build my confidence in teaching.
The mentorship turned out to be all of those things and an incredibly life changing experience for me. Sandra really tailored the study to fit my personal interests and also helped me refine my teaching skills. She helped me so much to expand my comfort zones and devise methods of working with my anxieties. She is so supportive and very gracefully approaches things she knows will be challenging. She had such an amazing ability to intuit-ally guide me in the directions I needed to go. I have lovingly compared her to Mary Poppins because she is a no-nonsense teacher who has a very direct mission to get you where you need to go, all the while providing excellent leadership and support. Even though she is truly working with you through your toughest obstacles- she is always gentle, kind, generous of spirit, and so very fun to work with. She makes learning and trying new things painless and so very rewarding.  I continue to practice with her, train with her and look up to her for inspiration and guidance. She is a wonderful person and teacher with so much love for what she does. I highly recommend her mentorship program as she is an amazing model for living gracefully and a very talented instructor- she has so much to offer.  – Traci Burnam

I spent the autumn with Sandra, participating in the mentorship program offered at Indra’s Grace. I am so grateful to have had this opportunity, as it has lead to growth in both my yoga practice and personal life.  Rather than offering a “one size fits all,” mentorship, Sandra brings her immense knowledge, skill and intuition to this program, making it individualized and personal. It is truly a one on one time to share, train and counsel.  If you are questioning whether this program is the right fit for you, have no doubt; you will come out of the mentorship a more confident and inspired yogi. Weatherford, Texas has a precious jewel with both Sandra and Indra’s Grace.   I will be forever grateful.  -Lori Powell
